Richard LeBouef was born in rural Vermilion Parish west of Kaplan, La. At an early age he learned to speak French from his paternal grandfather and also inherited his love of the music and culture, he so loved. As the years passed, he honed his craft and absorbed all he could from the masters that came before him. Forming his own band some 35 years ago, he has played for many different faceted audiences nationwide. People are left reeling after each performance due to the quality of musicians and the energy that is left on the stage after being spent. Playing the music of our culture and being an ambassador of it is something that drives Richard to excellence.
Richard has given us great music throughout the years with songs like “Empty Glass, Who Stole My Monkey, Louisiana Lullaby, Midland Two Step, Heaven was a Drink of Wine and On a night like This’ just to name a few. In 1997, Richard released his album “Again for the first Time” on the La Louisianne record label which spawned the mega hit “Empty Glass”. The song is a remake of an old country classic first recorded by Gary Stewart. Richard took this classic and made it his own and the song has taken a life of it’s own here in the Louisiana area become one of the most popular songs in Cajun and Louisiana music history!
Richard LeBouef also released albums “Kickin’ in your own Backyard and Longneck Vacation” which also produced big hits for him. Richard is known for his high powered shows, his passion for his music is evident in every performance. “To interpret the past and show the present, insures our future.”
